GOOD NEWS FOR THE EURO
Since its launch the European single currency (the Euro) has been going through a stormy period. Relative to the American dollar the Euro has looked weak, falling to below parity. Despite the fact that this does not matter too much in economic terms - the value of the Euro is the value of the Euro - it was bad in psychological terms.

SAVE OUR POST
Last week in Strasbourg, Euro MPs voted overwhelmingly to reject the European Commission's plans to throw open the EU postal market to competition. In May this year, the European Commission published plans to liberalise EU postal services by:
… introducing competition for letters weighing more than 50 grams;
… liberalising direct mail deliveries and out-going cross border mail.

But, Euro MPs rejected these proposals and voted to reserve the market for letters weighing less than 150 grams for national post monopolies.

It is extremely important the European Union (EU) Governments and the European Commission do not go back on their promise to ban the sale of new cosmetics tested on animals. The RSPCA campaign ‘Safe and Sound’, which calls for a complete sales ban on new animal-tested cosmetics is getting public support.

SAFETY AT HEIGHTS
In the UK 90 people die each year by falling from heights. Just last week two people died falling off scaffolding on the 5th floor of a building in Sheffield. Add to those 90 deaths 5.000 major injuries a year in falls from heights and you cam see that we have a major health a safety problem on our hands.
