Arniston got off to the perfect start when in the 7th minute from a free kick 22yards out the ball was perfectly placed in the top corner of the net by No. 9 Davie Beattie despite a brave attempt by the Whitburn goalie to stop it.
From there on Whitburn took control and put the home defence under constant pressure. The Arnie players not helping by loosing the possession too easily.
The Whitburn pressure paid off in the 25 Th minute when from a corner the ball was not cleared and from the returned cross the Whitburn centre slammed the ball home.
The visitors continued to press with Arniston only fleetly shown in attack.
Whitburn went into the lead on 35minutes again from an Arniston breakdown attack losing the ball and from their own half the visitors speed upfield passing as they went and the ball finishing in the Arniston net.

As the second progressed Arnie began to show more urgency and when the Whitburn defender was sent off with 30 minutes to go getting a second yellow the home team kept up the pressure.
This paid off with a perfect thru pass from Tadg Moriarty saw Davie Beattie score his second from an acute angle.
Time 80 minutes.
Five minutes later a shy on the right was cleared at the expense of a corner for the visitors.
From this the ball came over low and to the consternation of the home supporters was prodded into the net.
Time 85 minutes.
Try as they mite the Arnie could not get the equaliser producing only two good saves from the Whitburn keeper.
Altho there was no more scoring the game did not finish there. No 3 of Whitburn was shown a second yellow and sent off. After the final whistle went, Bartoz the home goalie was shown a yellow for kicking the ball away in his frustration.

A disappointing display by Arniston who only in the last half hour of the game showed any urgency.
The man of the match was the referee showing a total of 13 yellow cards leading to 2 reds going to the visitors in a match which never had a real bad tackle all game.
