ARNISTON RANGERS 1 TRANENT JUNIORS 2

Arniston went down by 2 goals to 1 against a Tranent team who seemed more eager than the home team to win this game.

Tranent started strongly and within minutes forced a corner which was headed narrowly over. In quick succession a shot then a good save from the home keeper kept the score blank.Arnie no 9 David Beattie had a good run inside the Tranent box but the ball was eventually cleared.

Arniston broke the deadlock when a long ball from Tadg Moriarty was helped into his own net by the Tranent keeper.

Time 20 minutes.

Tranent should have equalised 5 minutes later when a hesitant home defence allowed them two shots at goal from close in but two good blocks and a good save kept them out.

Tranent continued to be the better moving team with the first half ending and Bartoz keeping the score at 1 goal to 0 for the home team.

Just after the restart Tranent equalised with a visiting forward chipping over the Arnie defender and shooting strongly into the net.

One goal each .Time 50 minutes.

Try as they may Arniston could not get their passes right and regularly gave the ball away to the opposition.

Tranent were near to scoring a second when a rasping shot came back off the cross bar.

The winning goal came when the home defence could only partly clear the ball to the wing and from the returned cross the ball was headed into the net.

Time 80 minutes.

Try as they may Arniston could get little flow into their game and constantly gave the ball away when in what seemed in good positions.

Final score 2 goals to 1 for Tranent.and on this display probably the correct result.

Arniston will have to improve on this showing if they are to compete for promotion.

It looks like being a long hard season.

The Arnie team.
