Arniston Rangers v Haddington Athletic

q

Arniston started brightly having the ball in the oppositions net in 5 minutes only for it to be disallowed for offside. A decision to be repeated regularly during the game somewhat controversially.

The first half hour saw Arniston play some excellent football with some slick passing and keeping the ball on the ground.

It came as no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 10th minute from a good passing movement starting from Tadz to Beattie to Garden to Lumbert back to No 9 Beattie who promptly netted. An excellently worked goal.

Time 10 minutes

.arniston continued on the offensive with Haddington rarely seen as a danger. The home side increased their advantage in the 20th minute when again a good move from midfield saw No 10 Lumbert Kataleza score his first and deserved goal for Arnie.

Time 20 minutes.

With the Ref. irking the home support giving some doubtful offside decisions the visitors began to come more into the game and despite good home defensive work they drew a goal back from a thru ball which was expertly finished by the visiting forward.

Time 30 minutes.

Despite more Haddington pressure bringing out a good save from the home keeper Bartos arniston finished the first half with a Tadg Moriarty shooting narrowly past.

Half time Arniston 2 Haddington 1

Corners for Haddington at the start of the second half caused danger but the home defence stood firm with their forwards still causing the visitors problems.

A free for Haddington from 20 yards went harmlessly over

The visitors tall No 11 was always dangerous but had to move around the field to get away from the close attention of the Arnie backs Glen Marshall and Graeme Newall who along with their teammates were doing a good job containing the visiting attack.

With arniston still looking for the decisive third goal it came rather fortunately when in another arniston attack down the right a shot come cross was sliced into his own net by the Hi Hi`s Number 5

Time75 minutes.

This completed the scoring with Haddington vainly trying to reduce the score line
