| Arniston Rangers v Lochore Welfare - Arniston Rangers found little difficulty in disposing of Lochore Welfare in the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup competition at Newbyres Park, Gorebridge, on Saturday. Arniston quickly attacked, and in the first minute were awarded a penalty, from which Waddell opened the scoring. This was followed by another goal just afterwards by Anderson, and with Arniston doing all the pressing, a third goal was scored by Philips. The visitors had then a look in at the other end, Paterson sending narrowly past, while Veitch had also a try which carried over. The home side returned to the attack, Halliday having a nice cross which the centre just failed to direct into the net. Play was taken to the home end and where a corner was forced, and Beatson afterwards sent past. Nearing the interval, more pressure came from Arniston, and another penalty was converted by Waddell. The home side had a lead of 4 goals to 0 at half-time. Arniston attacked on the resumption, Philips hitting the bar with a hard shot. Some pressure by Lochore followed, and McGourty sent the ball through his own goal. The home men's total was increased by Anderson and Barnett added another. A second goal for Lochore was secured by Wotherspoon, but two more for Arniston were netted by Barnett. The closing stages were more even, Wotherspoon scoring for Lochore, and Philips for Arniston. Result:- Arniston Rangers, 10; Lochore Welfare, 3. |

| ARNISTON RANGERS For a considerable part of last season Arniston Rangers had a splendid run of successes and but for the fact that their ranks were depleted by the demands of senior clubs, it is probable that they would have gained the League championship. As it was they were runners-up. For the new season nine of their retained players have been signed, but McGourty and Paterson are hanging fire. Henderson, Waddell, Rodgers, McLeod, Sneddon, Souness, Neil Anderson, Philips and Banks will be joined by McCaffrey, centre-half from Stoneyburn Juniors; two out-side right wingers, Shaw (Bo'ness Cadora) and Stanley Stewart, (Leith Amateurs); Townsley an out-side left from Loanhead Station Ironworks and Liddle, a half-back from the Arniston juvenile club. Edina will visit Newbyres Park on Saturday. |
