| Arniston Rangers v Newtongrange Star - This Midlothian League game was played at Gorebridge on Saturday, when the Arniston Rangers had the better of the encounter and piled up a big total against their opponents. In the opening stages play was rather evenly divided, but after both sets of forwards had had several tries, Arniston broke away and Sharp opened the scoring. Arniston continued to press and Sharp again found the net, while just afterwards Weir added a third goal. The visitors made a determined reply, and D. Pryde reduced the leeway with a hard shot, while another goal was registered by Stevens shortly afterwards. Before the interval, however, Arniston came away again and Sharp scored. At half-time Arniston were leading by 5 goals to 2. After some give and take play on the resumption, the visitors broke through and Stevens scored. The home side afterwards dominated play, however, and Sharp (2), Connaboy, and Fitzsimmons added to their score. Result:- Arniston Rangers, 9; Newtongrange Star, 3. |

| Arniston Rangers v Stoneyburn Juniors - Arniston Rangers romped home with a comfortable margin of goals to their credit in the final of the Renton Cup, played at Easter Road on Friday night. Opening exchanges ran fairly evenly, both ends having a share of attention. Arniston took the lead after a nice run and cross by Smart. A header by Swan was palmed out by Pottie to Weir, who promptly drove the ball into the net. Pottie was hurt, and his place in goal was taken by Clark. During the keeper's absence, Arniston increased their lead, Smart being the scorer. Some attacking by Stoneyburn was capably dealt with by the Arniston defence, and on returning to the attack, Arniston were put further ahead by Penicuik, and just on the interval, the same player added another goal. Arniston again attacked after the resumption, but in a Stoneyburn raid, McLean reduced the leeway. Shortly afterwards, Stoneyburn were awarded a penalty, and Morrison took the kick. The ball hit the goalkeeper, but Morrison followed up and netted. Arniston pressed after this, and the issue was put beyond doubt when Weir beat Pottie with a hard drive. Near the end, the Rangers attacked strongly, and another goal was scored by Smart. Result:- Arniston Rangers, 6; Stoneyburn Juniors, 2. After the game, the Cup was handed over to Mr. Brown, president of the winning club, by Mr.Brannigan of the Hibernians |
