Season 1927-1928
After a defeat by Newtongrange Star 2 - 1 away, Arniston suddenly found form, and the victories were back, 2 - 0 over Penicuik Juniors in the League, 2 - 0 against Newtongrange Star in the League at Arniston, 1 - 0 against Portobello Thistle in the League. More victories followed, 3 - 0 over Portobello Thistle in the Musselburgh Cup, 3 - 1 over Wallyford Bluebell in the Scottish Junior Cup, a massive 7 - 0 win over Gala Hailes Villa in the League. Arniston's run came to a halt against Lochgelly Celtic in the 'Scottish', Arniston losing 3 - 2 at Lochgelly.
Form fluctuated for a bit, Arniston winning well against Pumpherston Rangers, 3 - 2 in the Marshall Cup, but losing two games in a row against Dalkeith Thistle and Newtongrange Star, 2 - 0 in the Marshall Cup. October and November were satisfactory months for Arniston, beating Bonnyrigg Rose 7 - 1 in the East of Scotland Cup, and a 7 - 0 win over Wallyford Bluebell followed in November. The rest of the season finished satisfactory for Arniston with a good run of wins, the highlight being a win in the East Lothian Cup against Musselburgh Bruntonians, their jinx team. No silverware for the Arniston men, but a very healthy league position must have been just as good.

| FOOTBALL CLUB RESCUSITATED - At a specially convened public meeting in the football pavilion on Saturday morning, it was unanimously agreed to re-organise the Arniston Rangers Football Club, which, through financial and other difficulties, became inactive when about midway through last season's programme. Subsequent to the finding of the meeting, the following officials were elected:- President, Mr. Wm. Davidson; Vice- President, Mr. Robert Haining; treasurer, Mr. John Hardie; secretary, Mr. Robert Marshall; financial secretary, Mr. John Young; representative, Mr. Wm. Macrae; trainer, Mr. John Mateer. |
