Season 1921-1922
Season started again badly, losing 3 - 1 to Leith Amateurs at Leith, 5 - 0 to Edinburgh Emmett at Arniston and 3 - 2 to Pumpherston Juniors in the Scottish Junior Cup at Pumpherston. Things could only get better for the Arniston men and a good win 3 - 2 in the East of Scotland Cup over Broxburn Athletic was the spark that they needed. Arniston started to win games, 5 - 1 over Edinburgh Roseberry at Logie Green, Edinburgh, 3 - 2 over another Edinburgh side, Edinburgh Emmett, 3 - 1 over Portobello Thistle, and 2 - 1 over Leith Amateurs. Only lapse, a defeat by West Calder away, and a bad one, a 7 - 1 defeat by Dalkeith Thistle at Kings Park, Dalkeith.
1922 saw the Arniston bandwagon in real swing, starting with a massive 8 - 2 win over Pumpherston Rangers, 4 - 1 win over Tranent Juniors, a 4 - 1 win over Bonnyrigg Rose, 2 - 0 win over Livingstone United, 8 - 0 win over Leith Amateurs, 3 - 1 win over Penicuik Juniors.
Lapses during that period, a 4 - 0 defeat by Broxburn Athletic, 1 - 0 defeat by Dalkeith Thistle. Arniston Rangers soon recovered form, and in a thrilling game at Logie Green, fought a 1 - 1 draw in the Semi-final of the East of Scotland Cup. In front of a 4000 crowd, Arniston won the replay and entered the final. Arniston also entered the final of the Musselburgh Cup beating Dalkeith Thistle by 2 - 1.
May 18 1922 Arniston Rangers won the 'Blue Riband Trophy' of the east, winning the East of Scotland Cup beating Bonnyrigg Rose 3 - 1 in the final. The Musselburgh Cup final was played at Olive Bank, Musselburgh and a 7 - 1 win for Tranent Juniors over the men from Gorebridge left the Arniston men with a bitter taste in their mouths.
