Arniston Rangers v Broxburn Athletic - These clubs met at Victoria Park, Newtongrange on Saturday, in a re-play of the East of Scotland Cup semi-final. There was a large attendance, over £15 being drawn at the gate, and the war tax yielding £3 odds. Broxburn kicked off, and immediately assumed the aggressive, the Rangers' defence having an anxious time until offside against Roden gave them relief. Some midfield play was followed by a drive by Boag, which Junners easily saved. Give-and-take play was followed by a couple of smart efforts by Broxburn - Boag heading narrowly past from Roden's pass, and then Junners brought off a capital save from the Broxburn centre. At the other end W. Gibson had a good try, being only inches wide. The Rangers forced a corner, and then Mitchell gave Simpson a hot one to get rid of. Goals were scored by Boag, who notched twice from penalties, while another was scored by Noble. Gibson scoring for Arniston. Half-time - Broxburn Athletic, 3 goals; Arniston Rangers, 1.

After the change of ends, Noble worked the ball up, and Ellis scored the fourth goal for Broxburn from a dozen yards out. Roden had a good run, which culminated in the ball being sent past. A corner for Arniston brought no result. Noble had a great run, but was well stopped. Result:- Broxburn Athletic, 4 goals; Arniston Rangers, 1.
