Season 1914-1915
What can one say about the season. Arniston Rangers were mediocre for much of the season, suffering defeat after defeat. Could it have been the enormous shadow of the First World War looming, and a depletion of the Arniston playing staff. Arniston Rangers played one or two games in the first years of the war before reverting to Juvenile in Season 1917 along with their near neighbour, Dalkeith Thistle. Reason for joining, well probably to provide the Arniston football public with their national game.

| SHOULD FOOTBALL BE STOPPED?
- The Mid-Lothian Junior Association, at a meeting last Thursday, had
under consideration a letter from Tranent Juniors, who requested that a
special meeting of the Mid-Lothian clubs be convened to consider the
question of stopping the game during the present crisis. Tranent and
Dalkeith moved and seconded respectively that the meeting be called. A
direct amendment of no action was put forward by Newtongrange and
Portobello, the amendment being carried by eight votes to six. For
misconduct on the field, J. Taylor, Newtongrange Star, was suspended for
two months, a vote of censure being meted out to W. Murray, Loanhead
Mayflower, and A. Burnett, Newtongrange Star. Portobello were granted
permission to play their home ties on Olive Bank.
MID-LOTHIAN LEAGUE COMMITTEE - At a meeting of the Mid-Lothian League Committee last Thursday, letters were submitted from Arniston Rangers, Penicuik Juniors, and Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, all of whom declined to play League matches meantime. Penicuik Juniors proposed that no League games be played before February. The unanimous feeling of the Committee, however, was that up to January 28th no club be forced to play a League game, but any who wished to do so could get on with their fixtures, which the secretary would arrange. The Scottish Junior League wrote asking for a representative game with the Mid-Lothian League at Musselburgh, but owing to the present circumstances no action was taken. |
