Season 1909-1910

Season started well for Arniston at Juniper Green, against Kinleith Thistle, Arniston winning by 5 goals to 0. Kinleith had moved their "digs" from Currie by this time. Arniston moved on remorsesly with wins against Bonnyrigg Rose, 4 - 2 in the league, a 3 - 2 win in the Dalmeny Cup over Wallyford Violet, a 7 - 1 win in the East of Scotland Junior Cup over Royal Scots. A hiccup like last season with a 2 - 1 defeat by Penicuik Juniors, was followed by another run of victories. We start with a resounding win 7 - 1 win in the Simpson Shield over Smeaton Rangers, followed by a 2 - 1 in the league over Kinleith Thistle, a resounding 2 - 0 win in the Scottish Junior Cup over Perth Harp. After another hiccup against Duns, losing 1 - 0, Arniston beat Dalkeith Thistle 3 - 1 in the league and suffered a 1 - 0 lapse against Penicuik Juniors at Hotel Park, Penicuik.

The people of Arniston must have been in a state of real excitement when the men from Newbyres Park reached the semi-final of the Scottish Junior Cup, after wins over Dunipace Juniors 3 - 2 in the fifth round and Edinburgh Roseberry 1 - 0 in the sixth round. Arniston were to be thwarted once again in the semi-final, losing 3 - 2 to Glasgow Ashfield after an epic struggle at Gymnasium Park, Edinburgh. The "gate" that day was £111, which must have been a small fortune. As usual with Arniston's luck in the National trophy, "Dame Fortune" was to offer the next best thing - Arniston won the "Blue Riband Trophy" of the east, the East of Scotland Cup after a replay over Bowhill Thistle The first game at Gymnasium Park, Edinburgh ended in a 1 - 1 draw with an attendance of over 5,000. Replay was at the same ground and resulted in a 2 - 0 win for the men from Arniston.

Season finished well for Arniston with the winning of the Dalmeny Cup, beating Rosewell Rosedale 4 - 1 in the Final, and the Marshall Cup, beating Bonnyrigg Rose 2 - 0 in the Final. Only lapse in the semi-final of the Musselburgh Cup, losing to Penicuik Juniors by 4 - 1.
