| Arniston Rangers v Dalry
Primrose - These clubs decided the right of ownership of the Simpson
Shield on the ground of Newtongrange Star at Newtongrange on Saturday
last. There was only one alteration in the compositions of either side,
and a large number of enthusiasts turned out to cheer on their
favourites. The game from start to finish was hotly contested. In the
first half Arniston, although more in evidence than their opponents,
were somewhat lucky in retiring with 3 goals to their credit. Their
forwards were very plucky, and of course they gave the Primrose defence
no end of trouble.
The second half brought about quite the reverse state of matters. Seldom during the whole forty five minutes did the Arniston quintette ever cross mid-field. The city team registered a couple of goals, the second of which should never have been allowed, as the ball did not pass through the posts. The result of a fast game was - Arniston, 3 goals; Dalry,2 goals. |
